Optical hub device with amplification function
Optical hub device with amplification function
1. Features and Applications - This is an optical hub device with amplification functions, called SOA-HUB, which incorporates a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) to compensate for optical insertion loss in multi-input multi-output optical hub devices. - Optical transmission paths often utilize optical splitters and optical couplers, but each connection incurs optical loss. In particular, optical hubs experience losses at the optical coupler on the input side and the optical splitter on the output side, and SOAs can be conveniently used to compensate for such losses. 2. Functions - By incorporating an SOA that has the capability to amplify light from a CWDM light source in the long wavelength band at 1.5μm by more than 10dB into the optical hub device, a compact optical hub device with compensated losses can be created. - For detailed characteristics of the SOA, please refer to the SOA catalog. *For more details, please request materials.
